Planning on doing a new Computer Build?
Getting a new Graphic Card etc?
or wanna talk about your system or got a question
related to this topic this will be the Friendly place to do it.

I usually buy mine ready made or instructed other to make for me.

It's too late for me to learn how to build myself, but I always wanted to do that.
I was born too soon and was far too busy to seek help that I didn't know how to find, to do anything to fill this curiosity.
I needed personal help, videos and online help is not something I gel with.

So, help others who wanted to do this like I did. Are there classes available to help people like me who's curiosity on how do DO IT in areas near you?

Don't think classes on the subject is necessary. i have never heard about it...
these days it's fairly simple might have been a different story in the 80 and early 90 sometimes a little electrician knowledge was needed when it came to adjusting voltage.
today that is rarely an issue most is just plug and play and usually a good manual is included with the motherboard and some
of the other items that cover the items that do not include any instructions....
and a simple Google search will most of the time dig up some good videos on you-tube to help out..
or ask around to find someone locally that is willing to help if stuck on something in particular.

today is just a matter of picking the parts you want and plenty of online stores even got their own pc part picker
section where a system or a bot attempt to match the part you pick together and will tell you if it will work or not and also advice what parts you are missing or should consider etc...

a few examples.

Thanks Lunarion for the links.

It's still overload for me. What needs cooling and what doesn't regarding SSD, it's not that easy and you could slip into spending more than you need. Building can be more expensive than buying off the shelf, an old builder told be that years ago.

So, I guess I'll stick to off the shelf. At this stage of my life I don't need a project now, just something that works. The fire in my belly died a while ago. But if you want to do it... go for it.

yes if only wanting a regular computer for Internet and Solitaire and simple office usage
yeah picking up something already cheap at a 40% sale or picking up something used
may be the cheapest and simplest thing to do.

custom build are for the Gamers and enthusiast who like to pick all the parts themself and put it together
it's a Interesting experience did my first build around 2010 and i don't think i will buy a pre built desktop computer again.
yeah at first it's a bit overwhelming it's a huge list of stuff to get and many decisions to make.
but once you have picked a Case then decide to do an AMD or Intel Build
once you have figured on the Motherboard then The CPU choice is Easy
Memory, Hard drives\SSD, Power Supply, Graphic cards, etc falls into place quick after that...
but yeah it a big project that gonna take several weeks
personally i like to set a date for estimated completion then usually start a year before that date slowly
by picking up some of the parts that i can find a good deal on here and there for example on black Friday sales etc.
then if i was lucky and got a good deal on may items i can move the date up or if not stick to the original date check more stores on the next sales that come up.
