Popular Post Kath
Well this is going well.... My house looks like a bomb hit it. Boxes everywhere, things I've wanted for months, even years, I ordered. I got my new fridge/freezer (the old one is about to die), new ceiling lights for the kitchen, (old ones were dodgy, bad choice) a new good small frying pan, a new potato masher, a new casserole pot and a pie making machine. It's not a lot of stuff, but when you need it and can't afford to buy it it's a pain. The fridge/freezer is making the kitchen a bit cramped, but when I get other things moved and reorganised, it should be fine. The new casserole was a vanity buy. I loved the blue casseroles I was was seeing in cookery progs and my 50yo Le Creuset is looking a bit battered. Well it arrived... I can hardly lift it when it's empty, when it's got food in it... no chance. So I will offer it to my kids - Adrian & Dawn his wife, if they can't handle it, I will donate it to the Emmaus charity to raffle and raise funds. It would cost too much to return because it's so heavy. But, I'll look into that. One thing worries me right now, my paper recycle bin has not been emptied in a month, they keep missing me, so now my house it accumulating paper too, because if I add more to it, it will be too heavy for me to move.. 1 2 Quote Link to comment
Founder Merlin Posted December 18, 2021 Founder Share Posted December 18, 2021 Call them about the paper recycling. Then send what you can now and afterward fill it up again and call them and ask for another pickup. I'm sure you kids will be happy with the new casserole dish. Maybe pretend you bought if for them on purpose 😉 Enjoy the new fridge/freezer. We need a new one too but this one is only 8 years old and still keeps things cool. It just isn't big enough but I won't part with more money for something that still works. Ceiling lights and frying pan sound like winners so there's that lol. I'm happy for you, Kath. Kath
I plan on telling the kids that it's too heavy for me, but if they can handle it, they are welcome. I'm also happy to donate it for a raffle for Emmaus. I don't think the kids would believe the present thingy. Whatever, it will be sorted so we all benefit 1 Quote Link to comment

I will ring the refuse people on Monday, it's getting beyond a joke, 1 Quote Link to comment
Kath
BUT, I know it will be ignored, they don't do that. If it don't happen that day... well too bad here.... just buckle up buttercup and try again 🙂 Quote Link to comment
Kath
They emptied my paper bin Christmas eve, so now I can fill it up with all the boxes that I had my deliveries in, some of them double boxed... Oh my, what a job I have now. Quote Link to comment
Founder Merlin Posted December 25, 2021 Founder Share Posted December 25, 2021 Our cans were emptied yesterday. Thankfully. They will be half full already tonight lol. We had a good day with a gift for all and a feast fit for a king. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kath
My paper bin is almost full again with the boxes, which I cut down to compress them, but there is a whole lot more and then my house will be free 🙂 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Kath
I found a home for my beautiful Procook pale blue casserole, (it was too heavy for me) my son's first partner, she adored it like I did it... it was gift from me to her today. The postage was too expensive to return. She brought the great grandkids to see me. It was a wonderful first meeting for Emilia, George was a little uncertain, but we had met before. So now we can look forward to regular visits. From now on I will be Gan Gan... like the queen Great Grandma 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
Kath
It's bin day on Friday, I always put mine out the night before -Thursday. I added yet more cardboard to the recycle bin, hope I can move it. We are nearly there to clear it away... if there was a gardener nearby they would love to take the cardboard off my hands. If you put it on a patch of ground you want to grow in, it kills the weeds and grass so you have clear soil in a few months... like magic. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kath
Well, it would be great if Emilia didn't have a milk allergy. Poor thing, after she had biscuits and some chocolate (we thought might be OK) she started to scratch. I felt her skin and it was very dry and rough. So, it's not a panicking mum with the dairy allergy thing, it's real I'm afraid. So sad 😞, her father has an allergic reaction to pulses and some fish.... it's a nightmare catering for them all... Even her mother is a pescatarian... how do you cook for them as a group?? God knows... beans on toast perhaps? Quote Link to comment
