Popular Post Kath
A few weeks ago my space bar on my keyboard was being erratic. I had to keep going back to put spaces between words. It was so annoying, so I tipped the keyboard over and shook out a load of debris, it was amazing how much came out. But I took it further and wielded a nail file to root out anything underneath it. I was astounded how much fluff and dirt was dug out 😲 Then I tried the keyboard again, it was a little better, but not much. I didn't eat food while using it either, so that was not the cause. In the end I bit the bullet and bought a new one, just a cheap one at less than £23, with wireless connection. I have a cheap Sabrent 4 port connector, so my wireless mouse and new keyboard gives me room to spare as 2 of my 4 PC ports have died. So... do you clean your keyboard, I thought I did, but obviously not enough? 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Chamberlain Popular Post dvernb Posted August 11, 2021 Chamberlain Popular Post Share Posted August 11, 2021 I usually don't unless there is something obvious spilled in there. Is the space bar going down smoothly no matter what part of the bar you push? Is there an obstruction? How old is it? Keyboards do wear out! Anyway, how are you liking the new one? 3 1 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Kath
I had the keyboard a good amount of time, more than 7 years I think. I think we all use the space bar with our thumb, and it can hit many areas depending on where you are typing at the time. The new one is ace. I have no idea why, but I find it so much easier to touch type on it, ain't that weird. But I love it 🙂 2 1 Quote Link to comment
splitinfinitive
I vacuum mine with a little hand held battery cleaner, it has a brush to loosen up the gunk between the keys. I bought it for about ten bucks online. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Kath
The new keyboard I bought has absolutely no space for any gunk to get under the keys. But that's a great tip Split. 1 Quote Link to comment
