What do you think about power?

I had power many years ago, now I have none. I'm happy about that.  I'm the same person now that I was all those years ago.

To have power can be very revealing of a persons personality.  It's how they use it that can show you the person they are.

Power is not controlling other people. Power is controlling yourself. Trying to control other people is the first sign that you are entirely out of control.

Controlling others is what weak people think power looks like.  It's not. 

Everyone with power on this forum knows this is a place is where people with power help you, not bully or put you down.  OK, if you mess up, they will step in and try to sort it out... we expect that don't we?

i was a union rep for my local delivery office so i had a fair bit of responsibility in my workplace, my main aim was to maintain current staffing levels and save staff from being sacked which i did in at least 6 or 7 occasions and to safeguard safe working conditions and to inform staff of things happening within the business.

on a personal side i ran my own football (soccer) forum for my local football team for 2 years and i was a moderator on a couple of different forums

i've never been a powerful person nor have i sought power .. a lot of times power corrupts or can corrupt (my own personal opinion)

Hey, that's weird, I was voted for as a union rep many years ago, but I  turned it down, I wasn't ready for that commitment.  Then some years later I was ready for responsibility. I was invited to joined a community that was creating software to share files. It lasted many years, with a lot of battles.  You wouldn't believe the amount of money in bribes going about then from the film industry, hundreds of thousands.. all of it turned down, because it was the principle, not the money...It was very very scary for me at the time, but I stepped up to the plate and rode it out.  I'm still here with no battle scars.  Some didn't survive, I count myself lucky.

It's in the past for me now, but I'm still an avid supporter of sharing files 😉

Books, movies and music have been shared in various ways for as long as there have been books, music and movies. My father was taping his friends LP albums back in the 1950s.

Life moves on and us who were warriors years ago, now need help to survive.

I need to employ a cleaner and a gardener periodically, it pisses me off. 

I guess that's life.  I've had to apply for equity release on my home to enable me to employ people to help me.  I'm in the process of that now.... fingers crossed.
