Convertible 'flying car' takes to the sky

A prototype flying car has completed a 35-minute flight between international airports in Nitra and Bratislava, Slovakia.

The hybrid car-aircraft, AirCar, is equipped with a BMW engine and runs on regular petrol-pump fuel.

Its creator, Prof Stefan Klein, said it could fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m), and had clocked up 40 hours in the air so far.

It takes two minutes and 15 seconds to transform from car into aircraft.

it's not a new concept i've seen similar designs this past two decades with cars that look more like a hatchback than a sports/super car that makes up this prototype flying car ... we are a long way from seeing a Jetson's or a joe 90 style flying cars

That's the best design I've seen so far. Still a little clumsy looking but it's an awesome design. I expect to see it in the next 007 film 😉

but the pods type flying cars seem to be gaining traction with the Airbus Popup and The Terrafugia TF-2

i would honestly like to see more advances in rail systems like Hyperloop and other high speed train systems that can lower the costs of building new highspeed travel
